first_imgThe National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS ) has changed its name after 20 years to Safeagent, the Client Money Protection (CMP) campaign it has been spearheading since 2011.This initiative has focussed on persuading lettings and management agents across the UK to sign up to CMP but now that it has become mandatory, NALS has decided to rebrand and ‘prepare the next steps for the Safeagent brand’. It will now be the key accreditation scheme for agent working in the private rental sector. The organisation says Safeagent is popular with agents, increasingly recognised by renters and landlords and that it wants to retain this goodwill, and the majority of NALS members are already ‘Safeagents’; the only difference is the use of one logo rather than two.CampaigningIts ‘Safeagents’ will have access to all of NALS existing benefits, including campaigning, specialist training, and advice and support.“It’s a pivotal time for the private rented sector,” says Isobel Thomson, its Chief Executive (above, left).“There have been many changes, and many more are in the offing, but we do know what makes a Safeagent. In a crowded, sometimes confusing marketplace, it remains an easily identifiable mark of trust for consumers in an agent’s professionalism and the security of their money.“We will maintain Safeagent’s consumer focus, while also continuing to champion the cause of our professional accredited agents who uphold the highest standards of professionalism.”The next Safeagent Awareness Week, which in the past has been supported by leading agency chains including Northwood and Belvoir and has been running for the past six years, will be from 17-21 June 2019.         National Approved Letting Scheme NALS Isobel Thomson SAFEagent May 20, 2019Nigel LewisWhat’s your opinion?
